Girls’ Giving Fund awards 2019 grant to True North Training Stables

On Thursday, October 17, members of the Girls’ Giving Fund – a giving circle of the Porter County Community Foundation – gathered to celebrate their success and award their 2019 grant.

Three randomly selected nonprofits were invited to present to the group. The members then got to vote on which organization they wanted to win a $5,000 grant. The 2019 grant was awarded to True North Training Stables.

28 girls became members of the Girls’ Giving Fund in 2019 and raised a total of $3,000. Thanks to two very generous donors who each added $1,000, the girls were able to give away a $5,000 grant.

The Girls’ Giving Fund is made up of young women from all over Porter County, ages 7 to 18 years old. The circle was launched in the spring of 2018 to empower young givers with the knowledge that they can make a difference in our community, and that being generous brings as much joy to the giver as it does to the receiver.

“These young ladies are an inspiration,” said Bill Higbie President and CEO of the Porter County Community Foundation. “They are spreading kindness with their generosity, which supports important work in our community. It’s wonderful to see kids experiencing the joy found in giving to help others.”
