Freshman swimmer Dani Gomez Barrientos (Mexico City, Mexico, Grandview Prep (Fla.) was named the Horizon League Swimmer of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
Against Rose-Hulman on Saturday, Gomez Barrientos won a pair of individual titles in the women’s 200 yard freestyle (1:59.37) and the 100 yard butterfly (58.75), in which she also set the third fastest time in Crusader history. She also swam the opening leg of the 400 yard freestyle relay that finished in first (3:50.25).
She becomes the second Crusader woman to win the award this season, as senior teammate Flavia Segatto (Pembroke Pines, Fla./Charles W. Flanagan) collected the honor back on Nov. 18.
The Crusaders return to the pool on Friday when they welcome Horizon League rival Green Bay to the ARC pool. Start time is set for 3:00 pm CT.
