Grant Awarded to Our Greater Good to Bring Love and Logic Training Seminars to Porter County

Our Greater Good received a grant to bring Love and Logic training seminars to Porter County. The grant was provided by the proceeds from last fall’s Chefs Around the Table Fundraiser.

Dr. Charles Fay, President of the Love and Logic Institute, Inc., will be presenting at both of these free trainings. The first seminar is open to all Love and Logic parent facilitators and those interested in becoming a parent facilitator; the second training seminar is open to all educators in Porter County.

“Love and Logic has been involved in helping parents and educators for over 40 years,” said Garner Tullis, Executive Director of Our Greater Good. “This is an incredible opportunity for our families as well as our educators.”

Parent facilitators can help other parents in our community raise self-confident and motivated children who are ready for the real world. Join Dr. Charles Fay on Tuesday, July 25 and Wednesday, July 26 at the Porter County Community Foundation from 9 AM to 3 PM each day, for the parent facilitator training, “Parenting the Love and Logic Way”.

A class for educators will take place on Thursday, July 27 from 9 AM to 3 PM in the auditorium at the Ivy Tech Valparaiso Campus. “The 9 Essential Skills of a Love and Logic Classroom” will offer simple tools for teachers and administrators to maintain calm and effective classrooms.

To register for either the facilitators or educators training seminars, please contact Garner Tullis at garner@ourgreatergood.com or call 219.628.2922.

Proceeds from the annual Chefs Around the Table event are used to support programs that build strong families and reduce substance abuse in Porter County. This event brings together more than 75 gentlemen chefs from around the county to prepare and share their favorite dish. Slated for Thursday, October 12 at the Porter County Expo Center, this fun event is open to the public and will feature silent and live auctions and a chance to vote for your favorite dish.
