under-the-streetlamp-1It’s pretty awesome when we get news at {valpo}ValpoLife{/valpo}{portage}PortageLife{/portage}{laporte}LaPorteCountyLife{/laporte}{nwindiana}NWIndianaLife{/nwindiana} that is not only good for the locals, but also good for the nation. We got a tip from that a popular singing group is coming to our area. When we found out who it was, we jumped at the chance to share this great bit of info with you, readers.

So, who is it? You know them, you love them, and now here’s your chance to see them! The wildly popular singing group that has taken America by storm, Under the Streetlamp, will be coming to the Star Plaza Theater on September 7, 2013 to film their second PBS special!

"The taping of our first PBS special was a truly amazing experience.” Christopher Kale Jones, a member of Under the Streetlamp, said. “So many of our fans were there, along with the new fans that we had never met, it was like a fantastic party! And now, after having the opportunity to tour the country for the last two years, we have fans and friends, from Honolulu to New York City that will be coming out to support us! My prediction is that the second taping in September will be even more ridiculously incredible!"

under-the-streetlamp-2Michael Cunio, Michael Ingersoll, Christopher Kale Jones and Shonn Wiley make up Under the Streetlamp and they will bring you memorable songs from the American Radio Songbook with impressive vocals, intricate harmonies and accompanies voice with wicked dance moves that will leave any audience riveted.

You’ll hear familiar and much-loved tunes from the jukebox era of Motown, Doo-Wop, classic Rock and Roll hits. The talented quartet is made up of recent leading cast members from the Tony Award-winning musical Jersey Boys.

All four members hale from different parts of the country, but they all have a special place in their hearts for the Star Plaza Theater. And why not? That’s where they filmed their first PBS special that launched them into stardom!

"It is absolutely extraordinary to me that two years into this project, the response from our fans, has been amazing, and truly far exceeded the expectations we had when we set out on this journey,” Charlie Blum, CEO Star Plaza Theater and Manager for Under the Streetlamp, said. “It's truly unbelievable to me that, here we are, getting ready to shoot our second PBS special, back where it all started, the Star Plaza Theater. Northwest Indiana, and the Star Plaza, have truly become a home away from home for Under the Streetlamp, and we couldn't be more excited to be back!"

Get you tickets now!

Don’t miss out on your chance to see such a talented group because after this show, the boys head back out on a big nation-wide tour in the fall.

under-the-streetlamp-3'We knew that when we began this journey that very few PBS specials make it past their first or second airing, and fewer are invited by the national network to deliver a second program," Michael Ingersoll of Under the Streetlamp said. "If you watch the concert we filmed at the Star Plaza, in Merrillville, you can see the energy and the enthusiasm of our audience colors every moment of the special. In fact, the audience truly becomes the fifth band member. There is no doubt in my mind that those folks who were generous enough with their time and money to support us early on, those cheering for old time rock and roll, are a huge reason that our debut special reached close to 100 million households in the US this year! Why would we ever want to film the second one anywhere else?"

So get on this, folks. This is going to be a very special event that you aren’t going to want to miss.
