It wasn’t too long ago that Harley-Davidson of Valparaiso brought together the community by handing out free pizza. On Saturday, they did it again, this time partnering with Domino’s, who made all 300 pizzas for the community. From motorcycles to trucks to community members out for a walk, no one was turned away for the free pizza special.
Jeff Haggerty, General Manager at both Harley-Davidson Valparaiso and Michigan City, was more than happy to serve the community yet again. And says that they’ll more than likely do it again.
“Valparaiso has been really good to us and we just wanted to give back to the community,” said Haggerty. “It’s been a trying couple of months for everybody and I think we could use some good things in the world.”
The beautiful day with sunny skies brought people from all over. One volunteer, Eileen Wayte, who happens to be the secretary for the Dunland Hog Motorcycle Club, loves serving and helping out in any way that she can. For her, it’s all about being able to put a smile on someone’s face.
“It’s been tough for people, so giving away something free to help in any way I can out feels good,” said Wayte. “Seeing people smile and maybe lightening their load just a little bit makes it all worth it.”
Any leftover pizzas were given away to local businesses and communities to say thank you for all they do.
