Hidden Charm, January 23-March 7

Blackbird Café, in downtown Valparaiso, offers more than just great food and quality coffees and teas. They also focus on the creativity this town has to offer, by featuring live music and artists. For a two month run, an artist can exhibit his or her work on the walls of the café, a display that is kicked off with an opening reception. This past Saturday, January 23, Blackbird hosted a reception for Eleanor Schreiner.

Eleanor’s show is entitled “Hidden Charm.” Her work displays a story of emotions and thoughts about a time spent overseas, experiencing another culture. The art consists of mainly self portraits, graphically arranged in a clever and witty manner. She also has some portraits of people she encountered on her trip.

The show was well attended, with many from the community coming out to view the work. Live music was provided by Eleanor’s parents, her dad Paul on guitar. Free refreshments were enjoyed by all. The show will be up through March 7, for those who were unable to stop by during the opening.

Blackbird Café is located at 114 E Lincolnway.
