Highland Walk With A Doc event postponed due to heat advisory; Michigan City event moved indoors

The initial Walk With A Doc event planned for June 15 in Highland has been postponed for a week, due to the heat advisory. Michigan City’s Walk With A Doc will still be held at 5:30PM on June 15, but will be moved inside the YMCA, due to the weather.

Walk With A Doc will take place Wednesdays and begin with a brief health talk by a physician or clinical staff member.

In Highland, one-hour walks will take place at Wicker Memorial Park, 8554 Indianapolis Blvd., 11AM to noon from June 22 to July 27. Register on site only at 10:45AM each Wednesday. In Michigan City, the Wednesday evening 5K walks will take place from June 15 to Aug. 10, starting at the YMCA, 1202 Spring Street at Door K. Walks begin at 5:30PM, register on site only starting at 5PM. The first speaker will be Franciscan medical oncologist and hematologist Saud Rana, MD. He will discuss how diet and lifestyle can impact your risk for cancer.
