Hobart BOOzfest Scares Up Fun for All

On Friday, October 17, the Hobart Chamber of Commerce hosted their 2014 BOOzfest, where laughs, beer, wine and good food were shared by all. Some stellar live entertainment, giveaways and raffles filled the evening. It can be said for certain that the Hobart Chamber of Commerce threw a frightfully fun party.

”Tonight has had a great turnout“, said Lisa Winstead, Executive of the Hobart Chamber. ”And people are coming from all over to experience it.“

A wide array of breweries and wineries were in attendance. One Trick Pony, Transient Artisan Ales, The Devil's Trumpet, Ironwood Brewing Company, 18th Street Brewery and Evil Czech Brewery, just to name a few, dispensed their spirits and brews to thirsty guests, but beer and wine weren’t the only way to spread Halloween spirit.

”Our goal is to promote local businesses and breweries. We went directly to some interesting, new breweries,“, said Jason Beres. "This is a great event for all people who appreciate craft beer."

The food was to die for. The first-class menu included black angus sliders, Guennes BBQ pulled pork, smoked summer sausage and Three Floyds' braised bratwurst. Not a single guest went home hungry. With that selection, how could they?

"We’ve seen a lot of people coming in who just heard about it,", said Dee Bedella. "And, everyone is raving about the food."

Some guests were even lucky enough to score VIP tickets. VIP access granted early entrance, a full course dinner, and a commemorative T-shirt. VIP has never been more defined as, “Very Important Person,” than at the Hobart BOOzfest, but there VIPs weren’t the only important people.

Halloween is always meant to be scary, but within reason. The Hobart Chamber of Commerce recognized that some real world horrors are meant to be avoided while real-life heroes are meant to be honored. Designated driver tickets were offered.

”This is our first event of its kind," said Dee Bedella.“A big thanks goes out to Jason for spearheading it.”

Good food, good spirits and great, fun-loving people, the Hobart BOOzfest had it all. Looking ahead, the scariest thing about next Halloween would be missing BOOzfest 2015
