Hobart Chamber Of Commerce Hosts 2nd Annual BrOOfest

The Hobart Chamber of Commerce celebrated the Halloween season in style with their annual BrOOfest on Friday night in the Celebrity Ballroom at the Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza. Local and regional brewers and wineries gathered to share their finest beer, wine and liquor with everyone who came out to support their local Chamber and enjoy everything the night had to offer.

Along with the array of beers, wines and liquors available for every taste preference were raffles, giveaways and delicious cuisine from TJ Maloney’s. Two bands, The Unit and Hybrige, were set up on opposite ends of the Ballroom and got people out of their seats and on to the dance floor as they rotated sets.

“This was the second year we’re holding the BrOOfest,” said Lisa WInstead, Executive Director of the Hobart Chamber. “Last year we had it in a smaller room upstairs and this year the sales have been much higher so we had to move to a larger area and that’s been so exciting. We had a lot of local brewers, not just the distributors, who came out to show off their wide selections of craft beers and wines.  Chicagoland Popcorn was here as well as Jill Marie’s Market who made a special beer gelato especially for this evening.”

“There was also a Blind-Draw Bags Tournament set up and run by Tuesday Night Baggers out of Hobart,” said Winstead. “Costumes were optional and we had a crazy photo booth set up for people to take and buy pictures. The Radisson was generous enough to offer discounted rates to those in attendance if they wanted to stay the night. Towards the end of the evening we will also have a 50/50 Drawing and we’ll be raffling off baskets filled with items donated by some wonderful local businesses, including Chicago Bulls tickets.”

Hobart Mayor Brian Snedecor was in attendance and enjoying the spectacular evening that the Chamber had put together.

“Lisa and her staff do a wonderful job,” Mayor Snedecor said. “We stand as partners with the Chamber and support them in all their endeavors. It’s been nice to see such a great response from all the local businesses and from the community who showed up to support the Chamber in a big way.”

To help raise money, the Chamber sold beer mugs and glow-in-the-dark T-shirts with the Chamber’s logo as well as the logo created for the nights event. Tickets were sold as general admission and VIP which included a number of added benefits and perks to make the evening a memorable one.

On hand serving locally brewed beer was Scott Ferguson, a brewer with Evil Czech Brewery out of Mishawaka.

“Our company started in 2012,” said Ferguson. “We have a lot of year-round, clean beers that people appreciate. Another thing we pride ourselves on is that we use all locally sourced ingredients whenever we can. We had a Pale Ale with us today that I just kegged this morning that was 100% sourced in Indiana and doesn’t even have a name so it is a bit exclusive for this evening.”
