Holly Days Uplifts, Entertains and Brings Together Community

Much holiday spirit was in the air Friday, December 3, 2010 in downtown Valpo as the annual Holly Days really kicked off the holiday season. Kids and families were out and about checking out the live nativity scene with a train ride on the opposite side of the downtown square. Many downtown shops were open having different activities to engage and entertain the jolly crowd as well as different items for window shoppers to view and purchase. And if all of that wasn't enough to give you the warmth of theholiday cheer, then you could visit Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Porter County Museum and hear the local Girl Scout troop sing a few Christmas carols.

It was a spectacular way to bring a wonderful community together and made you really appreciate what we have in Valparaiso. As one boy who was playing a "shepherd boy" in the live nativity scene put it when urging a little girl to pet the donkey, "you'll never get another chance like this in your life". He was right. You'll never get another chance to celebrate the holidays in the last decade of the 2000's. Happy Holidays!
