Hoosier Basketball Magazine Tabs 2016-17 Top 60 Senior Boys

Attached is a list of Hoosier Basketball Magazine's Top 60 senior boys’ basketball players for 2016-2017 as compiled by Hoosier Basketball Magazine. These boys were selected from approximately 1,600 senior players statewide. This event will be at Beech Grove High School on Sunday, April 2, 2017.

Seven players that participated in the 2017 IHSAA State Finals were selected as Top 60 performers. Three of the four IHSAA State Champion teams have a Top 60 Senior Workout participant. They are Maurice Knight, Frankton (AA Champion), Teyon Scanlan and Nike Sibande, Indianapolis Crispus Attucks (AAA Champion) as well as Datrion Harper, Ben Davis (AAAA Champion). Representing AAA runner-up Twin Lakes is Justin Crabb. Two other state runner-ups participants were selected, but are unable to attend. They are Avery Denhart, Lafayette Central Catholic (Class A) and Jaylen Butz, Fort Wayne North (AAAA).

The top five senior scores in the state are also Top 60 Senior selections. They include the state’s leading scorer Courvoisier McCauley, Indianapolis Manual (27.7 ppg), Nathan Walpole, Whitko (26.8) and Tyler Smith, Northeastern (24.6). Butler bound Cooper Neese, Cloverdale (27.2 ppg) and high scoring Brady Ewing, East Central (25.6) were selected, but are unable to attend.

Purdue University recruit Sasha Stefanovic, Crown Point and UCLA signee Kris Wilkes, North Central (Marion) will also participate in the 2017 Top 60 Senior Workout.

Statistical evaluation, game observation and statewide research were conducted throughout the season and the 2017 state tournament to determine Hoosier Basketball Magazine’s Top 60.

Two sessions of the Top 60 Senior Workout will be hosted on Sunday, April 2, 2017 by Hoosier Basketball Magazine, in conjunction with the IHSAA and the IBCA, at Beech Grove High School on the southside of Indianapolis (5330 Hornet Avenue).

Boys primarily from Northern and Southern Indiana will participate in the first session (1:00-3:00 pm EST). The remaining players, mostly from Central Indiana, will compete during the second session (3:30-5:30 pm EST).

Coach Steve Lynch (Brownsburg) will direct both sessions. Five other outstanding IBCA coaches— Criss Beyers (Warren Central), Matt English (Beech Grove), Paul Ferguson (Columbus North), JJ Foster (Fort Wayne Luers) and Brent Ross (Northeastern)— have been invited to assist with on court coaching.

Both sessions are open to the public for admission fee of $8.00 ($5 for students). Media can call (317) 925-8200 if interested in credentials for one or both sessions. The Top 60 boys follow.
