Horizon Bank announces its recent donation toward Habitat for Humanity’s construction of a home in LaPorte. “Horizon is proud to make this contribution to the LaPorte County Habitat for Humanity,” says Jim Neff, Executive Vice President at Horizon “Helping local families achieve homeownership is a high priority for us, and we are pleased to partner with an organization like Habitat that makes homeownership a reality for families in our community.”
Neff said that individual Horizon Advisors made personal contributions through the bank’s Horizon Cares program, and the bank then matched the amount raised, for a total of $1,350. “One of Horizon’s values is, ‘We contribute to the betterment of our community,’” says Neff “and this is a great example of putting that value to work.”
The donation was presented by Jim Neff along with Erik Dombrowski, Horizon Advisor and Board Member of LaPorte County Habitat for Humanity to Bob Long, Executive Director of the LaPorte County Habitat for Humanity. "We are grateful to Horizon Bank and its employees for the generous gifts” said Long. “This amount will be matched with a contribution from an anonymous donor. And it moves us closer to our ultimate goal of maximizing the full challenge match pledge of $35,000.”
Long noted that the LaPorte County organization is in its 30th year of service to the local community. "We build decent, affordable homes for lower income families. As we now build our 50th home, it is gratifying to have the support of such an enthusiastic, local corporate partner."
Lending Additional Support
The $35,000 matching challenge, offered by an anonymous donor, is in place through the end of the year. Donations toward this goal may be made by sending checks to LaPorte County Habitat for Humanity, P.O. Box 8874, Michigan City, Indiana 46361-8874. Donors should write “’16-CM” in the memo line of their checks. Credit card donations to the challenge match can also be made through Habitat’s website, www.laportehabitat.org.
