When you’re looking to buy a new home, you want to know the best neighborhoods and, unless you’re a big-time DIYer, you’re probably looking for a home that is well-built, on-trend, and high-quality. A great real estate agent will know which neighborhoods are the place to be and have their fingers on the pulse of the latest trends.
“Our agents have high standards and their knowledge is unbelievable. They are top of the industry. For one of the biggest financial decisions you will make, you want somebody who is skilled, ethical, and loyal to represent you. And we take that seriously,” said Lynda Anderson, broker/owner at Boulder Bay Realty. “We know where our loyalty lies, with our clients. When it comes to negotiating, we’re going to negotiate the best for the client.”
Here is Anderson’s take on hot homes in the Region, and some of the latest trends in home remodeling that are pleasing buyers and sellers alike.
Just what makes a neighborhood a “hot” neighborhood? It is more than a beautiful home.
Will the neighborhood get a good return? Is there a high demand? Are the homes appreciating?
Here are Anderson’s “hot” neighborhood picks:
Located on the Northeast side of Valparaiso, Hawthorne North is a growing, neighborhood full of new builds designed to fit buyers’ needs. The neighborhood is located in Center Township within the Valparaiso Schools district.
“Hawthorne North has really taken off. It’s conveniently located. You feel that you’re in the heart of Valparaiso. The location is just wonderful,” Anderson said.
Snugly situated on the southwest side of Valparaiso, Sagamore is a woodsy neighborhood offering tranquility and quality. This hot neighborhood offers picturesque craftsman style homes in a variety of styles. Sagamore is situated within Union Township and the Union Township School System district.
“Sagamore has a lot to offer. The winding streets make it feel homey and people are drawn to that,” Anderson said.
The downtown Valparaiso area has become a popular place to set down roots. Over the last several years, downtown Valpo has continually grown offering plenty of restaurants, entertainment, and shopping. The growth has encouraged major developments in real estate. With new construction, condominiums, or a charming fixer-upper, there are plenty of options for those who want to be in the heart of the city.
“There’s a whole melting pot of people moving to the downtown Valpo area. Downtown has developed and become so attractive, which has not only helped downtown but all of Valparaiso,” Anderson said.
Beautifully situated in southwest Crown Point, Ellendale Farm is a sprawling neighborhood offering buyers plenty of options. The neighborhood showcases tree-lined streets and is an easy distance to the downtown square. The Crown Point School System serves this community.
“Ellendale Farm is an established neighborhood but there are also new phases for new builds,” Anderson said.
