Housing Opportunities has several events coming up this summer:

June 19, 2010: Hilltop Neighborhood House 5K Walk/Run Fundraiser

September 9, 2010: FAWN (Friends Assisting Women in Need) Fashion Show

FAWN will be hosting their annual Fashion Show, Dinner and Silent Auction at Avalon Manor. The charitable recipient of the event again this year will be Housing Opportunities, Inc. If you are interested in learning more about this event, please contact Kathleen at 219 548 2800, X205.

Housing Opportunities, Inc. is the largest provider to the homeless in Porter County. Many of the clients are referred from Spring Valley Homeless Shelter, The Caring Place, Alice’s House, Gabriel’s Horn and trustee offices. In 2009, over 1,280 clients were served, 64% of them were women. In addition to providing transitional and permanent housing, Housing Opportunities provides case management service, support service, job preparations training, self-help programs, money management skills, counseling and educational programs. Beyond the statistics are heroic stories of individuals and families overcoming extraordinary circumstances.
