Valparaiso native earns second-career AP honorable mention accolade.
Purdue senior forward Robbie Hummel added to his long list of accolades on Monday when the Associated Press recognized him as an honorable mention All-American.
The honor is the second time in his career that Hummel has been an honorable mention selection by the AP, also earning the acclaim as a junior in 2010. He also earned second-team honors from the NABC in 2010, and has three total All-America honors for his career.
Purdue has also now produced at least one All-American in each of the last three seasons. Hummel and E'Twaun Moore were both All-Americans in 2010, and Moore and JaJuan Johnson both represented the Boilermakers in 2011.
Hummel led the Boilermakers in scoring (16.4 ppg), rebounds (7.2 rpg) and blocks (1.2 bpg) in 2011-12 as the team matched the program record with its sixth-straight 20-win season.
He finished his career ranked ninth in program history with 1,772 points, tied for fourth with 862 rebounds, fourth in three-point field goals (216) and seventh in blocks (112). He is the only player in Purdue history to accrue 1,700 points, 850 rebounds, 250 assists, 125 steals and 100 blocks in his career.
The Valparaiso, Ind., native is also a national finalist for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. The winner will be announced on Friday at the 2012 Final Four in New Orleans.
