Hummel Selected to US World Games Team

Robbie Hummel USA Basketball Valparaiso IndianaPurdue forward Robbie Hummel was selected Thursday to play for USA Basketball’s World University Games team.

Hummel, a Valparaiso native, is one of 12 players selected to represent the United States in the World Games, an international tournament consisting of the world’s best collegiate athletes. The US team will begin play in Belgrade, Serbia on July 3 against Finland.

Joining Hummel are Deon Thompson of North Carolina, Corey Fisher of Villanova, Lazar Hayward of Marquette, James Anderson of Oklahoma State, Trevor Booker of Clemson, Craig Brackins of Iowa State, Da'Sean Butler of West Virginia, Quincy Pondexter of Washington and Jarvis Varnado of Mississippi State.

The team will be coached by Wisconsin’s Bo Ryan and Purdue’s Matt Painter.
