The American Cancer Society invites the community to the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk, the organization's national crusade to raise awareness and funds to fight breast cancer.

More than 600 walkers are expected to gather to celebrate survivorship, offer hope and help make breast cancer a thing of the past. Participants will hear compelling survivorship stories, learn how the American Cancer Society is making a difference in the fight against cancer, and get information about local resources available during their cancer journey.

Breast cancer remains the number one public health concern facing women today.

The American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk has changed the face of breast cancer in communities nationwide by funding cutting-edge research, advocating for all women to have access to mammograms and treatments, and providing free local education programs and support services.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer raises awareness of breast cancer issues, including:

  • Women over the age of 40 should get a yearly mammogram
  • Underinsured, undeserved and minority women get and die from breast cancer at a higher rate than other women in the United States.
  • Underinsured, underserved and low-income women may be eligible to receive free or low-cost screenings through (Michigan's/Indiana's) Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program.
