Independent Cat Society Receives $500 Community Award

ICS-LogoPorter County Master Gardeners presented ICS with a $500.00 community grant to help beautify their "Rainbow Bridge Garden".

Independent Cat Society is located on Route 6 and County Line Road in Westville, Indiana where the Rainbow Bridge Garden was initially created in 2011 to honor the community pets that have passed on. This garden is open to the public. Take a walk down the mulched path and enjoy the perennials, ferns and hostas that are growing around the bridge and continue your walk over the bridge to the brick patio area where you can view their names of those pets that have passed on. Sit for a spell in this peaceful setting and bring your camera along for some wonderful snapshots at this garden.

The commemorative bricks can be purchased with your pet(s) name(s) and it doesn't have to be feline only. All pets are welcome. These purchased bricks will be placed along the crushed rock paths as well as the patio area. You can these forms in the shelter and on-line at our website http://www.catsociety.org/ or by visiting our Face book page you can find further information. All monies from this project are placed in a special building fund to create a healthier and safer environment for our shelter cats.
