John Browning

John Moses Browning was an American firearms designer who developed many varieties of military and civilian firearms, cartridges, and gun mechanisms, many of which are still in use to this very day all around the world. Browning began experimenting with his own gun designs as a young man and made his first firearm at age 13 in his father's gun shop. He was awarded his first patent at the age of 24. Throughout his life he influenced nearly all categories of firearms design and his most successful designs include the M1911 pistol, the Browning Hi Power pistol, the Browning .50 caliber machine gun, the Browning Automatic Rifle, and the Browning Auto-5 (a ground breaking semi-automatic shotgun). These arms are still manufactured today with only minor changes in detail and cosmetics to those assembled by Browning himself. He is regarded as one of the most successful firearms designers of the 20th century, in the development of automatic and semi-automatic firearms, and is credited with 128 gun patents. He is often referred to as the "Father of modern firearms" and amazingly since his death in 1926, there have been no further fundamental changes in the modern firearm industry...
