The grant funding, supported with a 50 percent local match, will be used to replace 11 HVAC units and 6 split heating and air conditioning units located at Opportunity Enterprises’ facility at 2801 Evans Avenue in Valparaiso. The current units are highly inefficient, both financially and environmentally, and will be replaced with 90 percent efficiency Lennox equipment. The installation date has been set for October 13, weather permitting. Bloomfield Mechanical of Portage will be installing 6 rooftop units that day, with the assistance of a crane and several workmen. The remaining units will be installed throughout the remainder of October into early November.

The Office of Energy Development (OED) was created in December 2005 as an extension of the Indiana energy office. Under the leadership of Lt. Governor Becky Skillman, OED is responsible for the state’s energy policy. For more information, please visit www.energy.in.gov.
