It’s Kind Of Fun To Do The Impossible…Walt Disney

On April 24, 2010 we were blessed by God with a new granddaughter, Carly Inez Decker. Carly had serious birth complications and was transported within hours to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, IN. The next two weeks were an emotional roller coaster with a miracle ending. Carly is now 5 months old and perfectly fine. We were one of the lucky ones.

While staying in Indy my daughter, Monica and husband were lucky enough to get a room at the Ronald McDonald House. A place that gave them a safe haven, a comforting room, shower and an available kitchen supplied with food.

Do you know that…

The Ronald McDonald House of Indiana embraces all families with sick or injured children being treated in Indianapolis-area hospitals without regard to income. While the cost of operating a single room is $74 per night (based upon 2009 figures), families staying at the House are asked to make a modest donation of $10 per night. No family is ever turned away from the House if they are unable to pay. (via..Ronald McDonald House website)

We did not.

Life has settled down and we decided to have a yard sale and give something back. For a $500 donation you can have a heart on their wall.

For $1000 you can have a leaf on their tree.

We decided our goal would be a leaf. The inspiration was seeing a leaf already on the tree from our local high school Key Club. Not sure we could raise that much money, but we were surely going to try. (dream, believe, dare,do).

This past weekend was our yard sale. Did we reach our goal? Yes, in fact we exceeded our goal and raised enough money to sponsor a family for 330 nights.

It’s kind of fun to do (what we thought was) impossible.

A true heart-felt THANK YOU to everyone who helped, donated and “shopped” at our yard sale/fundraiser. We are over-joyed.
