IU Alumni in Northwest Indiana to Hold Book Drive as Part of IU Cares Month

Donations can be made from March 24 through April 4

rot1Indiana University alumni once again will launch a book drive to benefit organizations in Northwest Indiana beginning Monday, March 24 and ending Friday, April 4 as part of IU Cares Month activities throughout the state. Individuals may deposit gently-used books at Strack and Van Til supermarkets and Centier Banks in Lake and Porter County.

In early April, the IU Alumni Association Lakeshore Region Chapter, the IU Northwest Alumni Association, and the IU Northwest Student Alumni Association will come together at IU Northwest to sort through the books and box them for distribution. The alumni groups will distribute the books to organizations in Lake and Porter counties, including charter schools, boys and girls clubs, area YMCA’s, shelters and day care centers.

Area organizations that would be interested in receiving some of the books collected through IU Cares may contact IU Northwest Alumni Relations Director Paulette LaFata-Johnson at (219) 980-6769 or alumninw@iun.edu.
