IU Northwest Day at the U.S. Steel Yard set for Saturday, July 4

Students, faculty, staff, and alumni are encouraged to come and celebrate the holiday with baseball and fireworks amidst fellow IU Northwest supporters!

Indiana University Northwest will mark the Fourth of July this year with an evening of baseball, fireworks and university pride, as students, athletes, faculty, staff, and alumni come out to celebrate the holiday with true RedHawk spirit!

Tickets to the game, which begins at 6 p.m., are $10 for faculty and staff, but only $5 for students. Students and employees who purchase their tickets on campus may also attend an all-you-can-eat pre-game buffet of chips and hot dogs at U.S. Steel Yard, sponsored by the IU Northwest Office of Student Life and Athletics, beginning at 4:30 p.m. IU Northwest guests will enter the park through the third-base gate.

Head RedHawk baseball coach Dan Soria, himself a former RailCats pitcher, will throw out the first pitch, accompanied by head men’s basketball coach Pete Trgovich, head women’s basketball coach Ryan Shelton, head volleyball coach Omar Vazquez, and Director of Student Life and Athletics Charles Gary, Ph.D. The first 2,000 fans inside the park will receive free IU Northwest baseballs. There will be an Independence Day fireworks display immediately following the game.

Tickets for the event are available in the IU Northwest Office of Student Life, located at Savannah Hall Room 217, through Monday, June 29. Call (219) 980-6746 for details. To learn more about IU Northwest athletics, visit the Web at www.iun.edu/~stulife/athletics/.
