IU Northwest Opens Fall Enrollment for Adult Education Classes

rot1Indiana University Northwest offers courses for career enhancement and lifestyle enrichment through its Adult Education program. Courses are taught on campus, and at multiple locations in Northwest Indiana.

IU Northwest students and the community are encouraged to register for courses that will prepare them for a job promotion or may even spark an interest in completing a degree program.

Upcoming courses offered through the Center for Urban and Regional Excellence at IU Northwest include:

Career Development
Certified Nursing Assistant: Four-week course offered on a rolling basis now; $830; for course locations and more information, call (219) 980-6978 or visit www.iun.edu/adultedu.
Dental Office Administration: Wednesdays, September 24 through November 19, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., $250 (includes book). If registering after September 12, fee will be $275.
Health Insurance Billing: Mondays, October 13, 20, 27, Nov. 3, 10, 17, 24 and Dec. 1;

Wednesdays, November 4, 11, 18 and December 3; 6 to 8:30 p.m., $450 (includes book). If registering after October 1, fee will be $475.

Medical Terminology: Wednesdays, September 10 through October 30, 6 to 8:30 p.m., $250 (includes book). If registering after August 29, fee will be $275.
Pharmacy Technician Training: Tuesdays and Thursdays, September 9 through December 2, 7 to 9:30 p.m., $1,150 (includes books). If registering after August 29, fee will be $1,110.

Business
Event Planning: Mondays, September 8 - 29, 7 to 9 p.m., $125. If registering after August 29, fee will be $150.
Creative Arts Entrepreneurship -- Preparation, Planning, Profit and Production: Mondays, September 8 – November 24, 6 to 8:30 p.m., $300 (includes book). If registering after August 29, fee will be $325.
Grant Writing Workshop: Mondays and Wednesdays, October 20 – November 19; 7 to 9 p.m., $250. If registering after October 10, fee will be $275.
How to Start a Not-For-Profit Organization: Tuesdays and Thursdays, October 14, 16, 21, 23, 6 to 8:30 p.m., $125. If registering after October 2, fee will be $150.

Computers
WORD—Microsoft Office 2013: Saturday, September 13, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Or, a second session takes place Saturday, October 11; $160 (includes book). If registering after September 2, or October 2 for session two, the fee will be $170.
EXCEL—Microsoft Office 2013: Saturday, September 20, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Or, a second session takes place Saturday, October 18; $160 (includes book) / ($140 if you have book from WORD class). If registering after September 9, or October 10 for the second session, fee will be $170 ($150 if you have book from WORD class).
Intermediate EXCEL – Microsoft Office 2013: Saturday, September 27, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Or, a second session takes place Saturday, October 25; $160 (includes book) / ($140 if you have WORD or EXCEL book). If registering after September 9, or October 17 for the second session, the fee will be $170 ($150 if you have WORD or EXCEL book).
Basic Computer Skills for Seniors – Fridays, September 5 – October 24; 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.; $150. If registering after August 29, the fee will be $160.

Social Media
Introduction to Facebook: Saturdays, September 13 and 20; 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., $85. If registering after September 2, fee will be $95.

Personal Development
Stepping Line Dancing: Saturdays, September 6 – November 8; 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., $120. If registering after August 22, fee will be $130.

Those interested in taking classes online have the option to choose courses in a variety of disciplines, such as Basic Computer Literacy, Web Page Design, Web Graphics & Multimedia Computer Programming, Internet, Computer Applications, Certification Prep, Troubleshooting, Networking, and Security, and Digital Photography.
