The IU Northwest School of Business and Economics and the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB) have announced that a recent peer review panel has reaffirmed the School’s status as an AACSB-accredited undergraduate and masters-level business program for the next five years. This is the second time the School has been reaccredited since its initial accreditation in 2005. IU Northwest remains the only public business program in Northwest Indiana to carry AACSB accreditation, a distinction attained by only five percent of business schools worldwide.
According to Anna Rominger, dean of IU Northwest’s School of Business and Economics, maintaining AACSB accreditation is a testament to the quality of faculty, staff and students of the School, and provides students with advantages in the workforce.
“An AACSB International accreditation is the hallmark of excellence in business management education,” said Rominger. “Therefore, maintaining this accreditation for our MBA and undergraduate business programs is a noteworthy accomplishment. This accreditation also benefits local students by giving them the option of attending an affordable business school that has the highest level of accreditation while remaining close to home. Graduating from an AACSB business school provides students with excellent credentials for both job opportunities and career advancement.”
The AACSB was founded in 1916, and its standards for business administration were first set in 1919. AACSB is a not-for-profit corporation of educational institutions, corporations and other organizations devoted to the promotion and improvement of higher education in business administration and accounting.
To achieve and maintain AACSB international accreditation, business programs must satisfy the highest quality standards related to strategic management of resources, interactions of faculty and students in the educational process, and achievement of learning goals in degree programs. Earning and maintaining this accreditation confirms the commitment of the IU Northwest School of Business and Economics to quality, continuous improvement and excellence.

The IU Northwest School of Business and Economics provides high-quality undergraduate and graduate programs that are convenient for students in providing both online and certificate options. Undergraduates may choose a degree in business with concentrations in business administration and accounting/financial information systems. The School is proposing to rename this concentration Accounting/Finance. For students in the business administration concentration, the School is developing specializations in marketing, human resources management and business economics. Graduate students may choose to earn a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Accounting or enroll in the MBA for Professionals program or Weeknight Hybrid Programs, which offer both evening and weekend options for professionals who wish to balance their education with work and home life.
