IU Northwest to Celebrate Homecoming on November 1

rot1The Indiana University Northwest Alumni Association and the Offices of Alumni Relations and Student Activities are proud to announce the campus’s Homecoming celebration on Saturday, Nov. 1.

Now in its sixth year, Homecoming is a tradition that grows in popularity each year, with more festivities added for alumni to come home and reconnect with former professors, classmates and colleagues. The events are also open to current students providing them with an opportunity to become engaged in their campus, and for the greater community to join in the excitement that is IU Northwest.

Show your pride and support for IU Northwest Athletics at a Pep Rally from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 30 in the Savannah Gymnasium. Meet some of the members and coaches of all the teams, including Cross Country, Volleyball, Basketball, Cheer Club and more. Food and drinks provided.

On Homecoming Day, Saturday, Nov. 1, the festivities kick off with a tailgate party on the west side of the campus. Hamburgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers and chili will be served between 12 and 3:30 p.m. Caramel apples will be added to the menu at 12:30 p.m.

The women’s basketball game begins at 1 p.m. with the RedHawks taking on Saint Francis.

At 2 p.m., the alumni lounge will be open in the Moraine Student Center lobby.

Then, at 2:30 p.m., grab some gourmet popcorn and get ready for the men’s basketball game at 3 p.m. when the RedHawks battle Roosevelt University.

General admission tickets are $15. Students with ID and children aged 6 and under are free. Those who purchase their tickets in advance will get a free Homecoming 2014 T-shirt to help show your IU Northwest pride at the games.

The Savannah Center is located on the northeast corner of campus at 33rd Avenue and Broadway in Gary.
