Ivy Tech Valparaiso to Celebrate Graduation

Ivy Tech Community College’s Valparaiso campus and Michigan City and La Porte sites will honor its more than 1,200 graduates this year at its first-ever outdoor commencement ceremony.

The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at the Valparaiso campus located at 3100 Ivy Tech Drive, Valparaiso, IN, 46383.

Students earned just more than 1,500 degrees and certificates during the 2020-2021 academic year.

The graduation exercises will follow standard COVID-19 health and safety protocols. Everyone attending will be required to wear masks. Seating is limited to students, faculty and staff. Social distancing will be observed. Graduates’ guests will remain in their vehicle where they can view the graduation on large screens, via livestream on Facebook and broadcast over the radio.

“We have spent months preparing contingency plan after contingency plan in the hopes of hosting a 2021 commencement. We are thrilled to be able to celebrate our graduates’ immense accomplishment in a safe and fun way,” Aco Sikoski, chancellor of the Valparaiso campus, Michigan City and La Porte sites said.

Dr. Sue Ellspermann, president of Ivy Tech Community College will be the featured speaker at the ceremony. Senator Ed Charbonneau will be making closing remarks.
