jade-sleafordJade Sleaford passed away at the age of 17 on April 14, 2012. A Memorial Fundraiser will be held in her honor and the proceeds will go to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. From April 8, 2013 to April 14, 2014 the Portage 16 IMAX will be participating in the fundraiser. During that week the Portage 16 IMAX will also have donation jars available for anyone who wishes to donate. All proceeds will go to the AFSP.

On Monday, April 8 there will be a community event at the Portage 16 IMAX. From 4-8pm, purchase concession items and 50% of the sales will go to the AFSP. And on Sunday, April 14, will be the Year Memorial Candle Light Vigil. Come to the Portage 16 IMAX parking lot at 8pm and celebrate Jade's life with her friends and family.

In addition to these events, the theater will be decorated with all things lime green and purple, to show support for Jade with her favorite color (lime green) and suicide prevention (purple). Wear your favorite lime green clothing and join our staff as they support the cause with lime green bow ties.
