Jelly Good For Your Belly

Jam-JarPurdue Extension presents “Jam Session – Jelly Good for Your Belly” this year at the 2011 Porter County Fair. Learn how to make and preserve homemade jams and jellies for your friends and family! The demonstration will be held from 11am-1pm on Wednesday July 27th at the Purdue Extension booth located next to the Fair Office in Expo East.

Purdue Extension will have two Health and Human Sciences educators present to give demonstrations on preparing jams and jellies, and to answer additional questions about canning, food preservation, as well as taste tests. Annetta Jones, HHS – Purdue Extension Porter County and Corinne Powell, HHS – Purdue Extension Lake County also offer courses to the community, which include Safe Food Handling, Pressure Canning, Freezing Fruits and Vegetables, Dehydrating, and Pickling. Other HHS programs available through Purdue Extension include Children and Families, Home and Money, and Nutrition and Health.
