Junior Wins 2012 Cover Design Contest

Brust is a student in Kirsten Renehan’s Art Visual Communications class. Each year students in her class create a design for the student handbook as a class project. To determine the design to be used for the following school year, select student designs are voted on by faculty, staff, and students. This is the fifth year this class has spearheaded this task.

The design created in 2010-11 by CHS student Jannon Jeffries was voted the nation's best by a competition sponsored by School Datebooks. Brust’s design will also be entered into the annual School Datebooks contest.

This is just one of several projects this class does to collaboratively work with the community to apply their hands-on graphic design skills to real life work situations,” said Renehan. Other past projects have been designing the Keep Chesterton Beautiful logo for the Town of Chesterton website, the watershed highway signage and currently a new street banner designed for the Chesterton Duneland Chamber of Commerce.
