Kankakee Valley REMC embraced the electric vehicle technology this year when they purchased a 2019 Chevy Bolt. Now they are anxious to share what they have learned with area residents and the cooperative’s membership at the upcoming electric vehicle test drive experience. This event will allow individuals to get behind the wheel of an electric car without the pressure to buy.
“Since they were formed 80 years ago, cooperatives have been educating member-consumers and the community about electric safety, energy efficiency and how electricity can improve your quality of life. As electric vehicles gain popularity, it is just one more opportunity for us to become a trusted resource for our membership and the community,” stated Darrell Marks, energy advisor for Kankakee Valley REMC.
The electric vehicle test drive experience will take place on August 26 from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and August 27 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the front parking lot at the cooperative’s headquarters in Wanatah. During the test drive, individuals will be able to experience the smooth ride the electric vehicle offers while also learning about the unique features of the car and the benefits of ownership. Members of the Kankakee Valley REMC team will be present to answers any questions about the car and also ride along as individuals take the Bolt for a spin.
