Kasey Gengler Named Valpo Assistant Director of Athletics for Event Management & Facilities

Valparaiso University Director of Athletics Charles Small and Executive Associate AD Liz Jarnigan have announced the hiring of Kasey Gengler as the department’s new Assistant Director of Athletics for Event Management & Facilities.

Gengler previously played a key role in event management at the University of Colorado, where he most recently served as the Director of the CU Events Center and Gameday Operations (2021-2022). He spent time in a variety of event management and gameday operations roles during his time at Colorado, which spanned from 2017-2022.

“Kasey’s experience in facilities management and event operations at several universities including three power-5 institutions has prepared him to be a leader in the Valpo Athletics Department,” Jarnigan said. “His organizational skills and thoughtful communication style will serve our student-athletes, coaches and fans well. We are pleased to welcome Kasey and his family to the Valparaiso community.”

Prior to his time at the University of Colorado, Gengler served as a facilities assistant at Texas A&M University (2016-2017), a front office assistant for the West Virginia Black Bears (2015-2016), the Premium Seating Coordinator at West Virginia University (2015-2016) and an athletics operations assistant at Northern State University (2011-2015).

“I am honored to be joining the Valparaiso University Athletic Department and have the chance to directly impact our student athletes, staff and fans,” Gengler said. “I would like to thank Liz Jarnigan and the rest of the search committee for believing in me and providing me with this opportunity. It is an exciting time to be a part of a new era of Valpo Athletics under the direction of Charles Small. This is also a homecoming of sorts for my family as my wife, Alexandra (Schulte), attended Valpo and was a student worker in the athletic department.”

Gengler graduated from Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D. with an undergraduate degree in sport marketing and administration in May 2015 before going on to earn his master’s degree in sport management from West Virginia University in May 2016. He has volunteered at the PAC-12 Women’s Basketball Tournament, the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament and Minnesota Vikings training camp. In addition, Gengler is a member of multiple professional organizations.
