Kelsey’s Steakhouse has had a long-standing history of being one of the greatest steakhouses in Northwest Indiana. It takes a lot of hard work to maintain the high standard of food and service that customers expect and enjoy, and General Manager Justin Oettinger takes great pride in both. Although signature prime rib and filet mignon dishes have contributed to Kelsey’s name recognition, Oettinger isn’t about to let the other tasty items on the menu slide past diners’ radars. 

“I want to say that nearly 80 percent of our customers go with the same thing every time, and as much as we understand how going back to your familiar favorite is easy, we want the public to know about the other options we have,” Oettinger said.

As the Kelsey’s crew approaches their 30th anniversary, here are five things to try at Kelsey’s Steakhouse next time you pay a visit.

Sweet & Spicy Fall Drinks: This past month, Kelsey’s rolled out their fall drink menu, complete with new wine selections and mixers catered to the flavors of the season. One of the top favorites this season is the Autumn Apple, a sweet combination of gin, lime, apple cider, and a drizzle of honey! If gin isn’t really up your alley, the Apple Pie Martini is another way to treat yourself to fall spices. This drink features Tito’s, Apple Pucker, sour mix, ice cream, and just a dash of cinnamon. 

Kelsey’s often switches up the drink menu. It keeps things fresh and lets the bartenders play with different flavors. Oettinger and the rest of the staff are exceptionally proud of this new drink menu, which has been received well across the board. 

Healthy Keto Options:  If you know food, you’ve probably heard of the Keto diet. It is a low carb, high protein diet that can help limit the intake of carbohydrates and kickstart weight loss. For those who are partaking in the Keto diet, never fear—Kelsey’s is a great place to dine without sacrificing your goals. 

“We offer a lot of keto-friendly options for dinners and sides,” Oettinger said. “We have grilled vegetables such as asparagus, broccoli, and more. And we work with our customers, so they have the meal they want.”

Warm Soups, Crunchy Salads: Now that we are officially entering the colder months of the year, it’s socially acceptable to have soup any time you want. And Kelsey’s has delivered. With an extensive soup and salad menu, Kelsey’s has exactly what you need to warm up. Favorite soups include seafood bisque, French onion, and a specially-crafted soup of the day. The salad selection is full of different options, too. Specials include the Black & Bleu Steak Salad and the Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad. 

Fresh-caught Fish: Another overlooked dinner option at Kelsey’s is the freshly-caught salmon. This freshly caught Atlantic salmon is a great option for those looking for protein but avoiding red meats. Salmon is a great staple for any diet because it is rich in vitamins D and B2, and omega 3 fatty acids. According to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, adding more fish to your diet is a great way to promote healthy habits and prevent chronic diseases. 

Underdog Options: “A lot of people don’t really know about our ribs, which is one of my favorite dishes,” Oettinger said. Another amazing underdog is the Peppercorn Marinated Porkchop, marinated in a combination of honey, garlic, molasses, and cilantro for a minimum of 24 hours. The long margination time ensures that the pork emerges juicy and fall-off-the-bone-ready.
