Lakeshore PAWS Briefs: November 6, 2014

Lakeshore-PawsThanksgiving is just around the corner and we at Lakeshore PAWS have plenty to be thankful for again this year. We are thankful for a great staff, who put in so much time and give so much of themselves for the welfare of the dogs.

We are thankful for our great and growing group of volunteers, fosters and board members, who also give so much of themselves and make life so much better for the dogs until they find their forever homes.

We are thankful for all those who adopt dogs from us and then provide beautiful updates that give us all encouragement to continue on, especially when times are tough.

We are also so thankful for all the individuals, groups and businesses that support our efforts and help to make it all possible. The list is far too long to print here, but a few recent examples include the ongoing support of Coco's Canine Cabana, Tudor Carpet One Floor & Home for donating tile floor for the adoption center (and the volunteers installing the flooring) and the Porter County Community Foundation for its generous financial support allowing for the purchase of much-needed kennels.

Please don't feel left out if not mentioned specifically. Part of our thanks to you is that great feeling in your heart for helping out such a worthy cause - it's what keeps us all going.

Have a great Thanksgiving holiday.

Volunteer of the Month
We could thank Lori Shivalec for the long hours she spends helping office staff, transporting dogs, fostering and working adoption events. But what we really appreciate is how you crack everyone up in the midst of the crazy. Big dog kiss!

Featured dog
Looking for a dog who is already trained? And by trained, we mean a dog, who comes with a list of commands she knows. Meet Bessie, a 5-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix, who is house trained and knows to sit, stay, shake, roll over and much more. She would do best in a home without young children and would prefer to be an only dog, but gets along with cats.
