Lakeshore PAWS Hosts Adoption Event in Merrillville

LakeshorePawsPuppiesLooking for a new best friend? Lakeshore PAWS puppies and dogs will be available for adoption at Phantom Fireworks in Merrillville on June 25.

Puppies and dogs of assorted breeds will be available for adoption from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Phantom Fireworks’ Merrillville location, 3101 East Lincoln Highway (U.S. 30). Visit www.facebook.com/LakeshorePaws to view photos and find information on all of the dogs available for adoption.

In case of inclement weather, a rain date for the adoption event is scheduled for Sunday, June 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Phantom Fireworks.

All dogs available for adoption will be spayed or neutered, updated on vaccinations—including rabies—and microchipped. In addition, each dog will be de-wormed and given treatments to prevent fleas and ticks.

To ensure that each pet is ready to join a new family, an animal behaviorist will work with the dog beforehand, and dogs also will be socialized with other dogs. The day of the event, adoption counselors will make sure that pets are placed in the perfect home for the pet and the new owner.

Recently co-founded by local business women and animal lovers, Jeanne Sommer and Kim Langer, Lakeshore PAWS is a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving and protecting dogs and cats. Many animals rescued by Lakeshore PAWS come from local shelters where the dogs are scheduled to be euthanized.
