Lakeshore PAWS Looks to Add Modern Kennel Suites to New Location

Lakeshore PAWS is adding the next addition to their new location with the addition of modern kennel suites for each dog. Along with modern kennel suites, the new building, located at 4611 Evans features more space and resources to save and adopt more dogs such as separate areas for sick dogs from local shelters and fenced in areas for dogs to run and play.

Lakeshore PAWS's ultimate goal is to have 4 separate areas for homeless dogs along with spray/neuter clinic. These areas include an adoption room, quarantine room, isolation room and playroom.

There are three planned phases for the building, the first consisting of two essential areas that must be addressed before they move in, an adoption area and isolation area.

The adoption area will consist of adoptable dogs being kept here for the public to see on a daily basis. This area will consist of 20 kennel suites which will also have 10 outdoor runs. Each of these suites will feature tempered glass and stainless steel, ensuring that each of the suites are safe, filled with plenty of rooms and allow visitors and staff to easily view and interact with the dogs at all times and allow dogs to become adopted more easily while being presented in a positive environment.

The isolation area will consist of dogs being kept here during their seven-day holding period. This ensures that after dogs are pulled from shelters they are properly checked to ensure that they do not have diseases or behavioral issues and will also feature individual air infiltration units to ensure that each dog breathes clean air, allowing dogs to have a full evaluation before being offered for adoption.

Many of the costs for the building modifications and rooms were made possible through the donations and contributions of Mark Forszt, owner of Harley-Davidson of Valparaiso whose contributions helped the make this building transition possible along with many other factors in taking the existing model of Lakeshore PAWS and making it even better.

For those who want to assist Lakeshore PAWS in their transition, options exist to help the through the sponsorship of a kennel suite. Donators are invited to sponsor a kennel for $2,500 which not only allows a dog to live comfortably before finding their forever home but allows each donator to have their name placed on the kennel suite, letting their generosity forever be engraved as new dogs are rescued and placed into caring families.
