Lakeshore PAWS Pets to Attend Saint Paul Catholic School’s Oktoberfest October 11

St-Paul-Oktoberfest-2013More than 30 dog breeds originated from Germany including the Dachshund, Boxer, German Shepard, and Poodle. So it seems fitting that the upcoming Oktoberfest will include dogs in need of a forever home. Lakeshore PAWS will host an adoption event from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on October 11 during Oktoberfest located on the Saint Paul Catholic School’s campus at 1755 West Harrison Boulevard in Valparaiso. The location of the event will be a homecoming for Lakeshore PAWS’ founder, Jeanne Sommer, whose children attended the school.

It’s so nice of the school to give back to the community by allowing Lakeshore PAWS to attend with our adoptable dogs,” said Sommer. “Events like these give us the opportunity to share information about our organization and find more forever families for homeless pets in Northwest Indiana.”

In addition to the adoption event, Oktoberfest will feature a kyrbis (that’s pumpkin in German) carving contest, live music by Jay Fox and the Bavarian Showtime Band, German foods, an authentic biergarten, hayrides, and the Gnome Zone for kids featuring a petting zoo, bounce haus, 60-foot inflated obstacle course, giant slide, traditional festival games and a German track for Hot Wheels cars made by students at Valparaiso University’s German House. For only $10, a wristband entitles a child to unlimited fun in the Gnome Zone from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The complete schedule of activities, carver entry form, sponsorship information and more is available at http://www.stpaulvalpo.org/oktoberfest.htm.

The entire community is invited to attend the Lakeshore PAWS adoption event and Oktoberfest festivities.
