On Friday, businesses and organizations from across the region teamed up to make this year’s United Way ‘Day of Caring’ a special one. Although clouds and rain were looming, the spirit and determination of one local company, Lakeside Wealth Management, could not be subdued with the threat of showers.
Lakeside Wealth takes the opportunity every year to close their offices for the United Way's ‘Day of Caring’ event. Their whole team has the opportunity to get involved with local charities or organizations to help in any way that they can.
“Day of Caring is a big thing we LOVE to do,” said Lakeside Wealth Management’s Jenn Brown. “This year we partnered with Opportunity Enterprises to work on two projects they were in need of help to complete.”
23 Lakesiders volunteered to help and were split into two separate groups that went to two different locations.
“Half of us went to a newly purchased home that Opportunity Enterprises hopes to have move in ready by the end of September,” Brown said. “We painted all four bedrooms of the home. Once finished we headed out to join the other half of us.”
“That half went to O.E.’s Lakeside campus to stain their HUGE deck. When I say huge, I mean HUGE! This thing was a three level deck that was probably close to 7500 square feet. We raced to finish the desk before the rain came in.”
Once both projects were complete the entire Lakeside Wealth Management team came together for lunch with the Opportunity Enterprises staff.
“It was awesome!” Brown said of the day's events. “By the end of the day we were stained, painted and tired but we loved every minute of it.”
