Late Inning Rallies Put Vikings Baseball Over Lowell

After falling behind 7-3 going into the fourth inning, the Valparaiso High School baseball team put together innings of 2, 3, and 9 runs to take the lead and put away the Lowell High School Indians on Monday afternoon by a score of 17-7.

The Vikings had struggled on the mound early in the game, but Tyler Ingram came in relief to throw 4 2/3 innings, striking out six and allowing just one run for the win. Valpo collected 13 hits in the ballgame, with Jeff Holmes and Greg Thome responsible for three each. Thome also recorded four RBI in the winning effort.

The Vikings will travel on Tuesday to Portage for their final regular season road game before they play Crown Point on Thursday, then Highland on Tuesday at home.
