Latitude Commercial continues to grow its team of brokers and real estate professionals, this time with the addition of Assistant Property Manager Courtney Pishkur. While new to the industry, Pishkur brings a background in finance and leadership that are allowing her to take off running at the start of her real estate career.
Pishkur was scouted for the role by her brother Ryne Pishkur, Latitude’s Director of Property Management. His division continues to grow and the team was seeking additional help to manage their expanding portfolio of properties. Formerly a financial advisor assistant, she is no stranger to working with numbers and her experience coaching golf and basketball have helped hone her leadership and teambuilding skills – all essential tools in real estate.
“They needed people,” Courtney Pishkur said. “I talked with my brother about it, he thought my skills fit, and I was excited for the chance to learn something new.”
When Pishkur got started she was surprised by just how much there was to learn, but was eager to take on the challenge.
“It was overwhelming but good,” she said. “I’m still learning something new every day, there are so many little details that go into making sure everything is managed properly. Every one of them has so many things going on with it, small nuances that you need to pay attention to.”
As she joined Latitude around the change of seasons, she quickly learned how to handle one of the most critical aspects of property management – just how proactive you need to be to keep the property in top shape.
“I’d initially thought it’d be kind of just checking in on the properties and seeing if they needed anything,” she said. “Instead, you really have to manage schedules for all sorts of tasks. In winter you have to plan for snow removal, now with spring and summer we’re setting up lawn care.”
One of the things she’s enjoyed most about the work is the breadth of clients Latitude works with, and the amount of entrepreneurs they get to assist.
“There are so many different clients that we’re working with,” she said. “It’s not just shops. There are medical offices and restaurants. We’re here for everybody, these properties are everything to them. They’re their livelihoods. We’re just trying to do what we can to make things a little easier for them.”
Much of Pishkur’s current schedule is packed with courses and studying to continue mastering the ins and outs of property management.
“It’s all about continuing to learn and grow,” she said. “Everything is still new right now, so I just want to keep getting better.”
One thing she has learned is what she believes is the key to Latitude’s success – impeccable teamwork.
“I think the biggest thing for Latitude is their constant and open communication,” she said. “Everyone helps everybody and is constantly meeting and working together to get the best results. There’s a real camaraderie, and that’s got to be my favorite part of working here.”
