Laura Schrage Campbell has been named to the Valparaiso Redevelopment Commission, announced Mayor Jon Costas. “We welcome Laura’s expertise and direction,” said Mayor Jon Costas. “Her background will add so much to this important commission that shapes our city for years to come,” he said.
Campbell has a Master’s degree in business from Valparaiso University and has worked in New York City; Washington DC; and Bethesda, Md. She is currently working with Centier Bank, managing the redevelopment of Schrage Mansion. Campbell grew up in Northwest Indiana and now lives in Valparaiso’s historic district. “I’ve been impressed by the changes in our community over the past five years and wanted to contribute to the future of my own community,” she said.
The Valparaiso Redevelopment Commission oversees the city’s two tax increment financing districts, which collect tax revenue within their districts and use the revenue for a variety of infrastructure projects. Campbell replaces Jim Jorgenson who recently resigned to accept an appointment to the city’s school board.
