It was business as usual at the Greater Chamber of Commerce, as they graciously hosted the Portage Community and Business Night, promoting 90 organizations and businesses from around the region in an expo-style event.
The long list of businesses include United Way of Porter County, Arnell Auto Group, Minuteman Press, Saint Anthony Memorial, Kauffman Chiropractic, North Shore Health Centers, Porter Heath Systems, Habitat for Humanity, Pro Energy Consultants, Beautiful Hair & Skin Day Spa, and P&H Printing.
These are just a few among the myriad of businesses that attended, along with numerous restaurant and caterer tasting booths, dessert stands, banks, healthcare centers, insurance firms and media representatives. There were hundreds of visitors to this event, both young and old taking part in supporting and being a part of the business orientation of the Portage community.
At the PortageLife display, we recreated the Chamber-style "30 Seconds of Fame" with our own new-media twist. With a green screen at their back and a microphone in hand, they gave a quick presentation of their business to the camera. Those who took advantage of the opportunity are able to get a spot of free advertising on PortageLife.com.
