Links of the Week: Super Mario, Derek Jeter, and the Last Blog of My Bachelordom

Well, I'm finally tying the knot this weekend. It's been a long, interesting six months or so since our engagement. Between moving the wedding up a year, helping coordinate all the major details, and testing how many I don't really care's I can get away with for all the minor details, I can truly say that I think we're ready.

Most everyone I've spoken with over the past few weeks have each had the following conversation:

Person: "So, are you getting nervous yet."
Me: "No, not really."
Person: "... Really?"

To me, it won't be a huge adjustment, merely a formality. My fiancee and I have been dating for 4 years (probably closer to 5), and we already have a house out in Hobart. I'm excited for the future, but to be honest, I've been excited for the future for a few years now.

So, on the note that this blog will likely be the last thing I write as a bachelor (sorry, ladies!), here are the Links of the Week:

ValpoLife and PortageLife are supposed to be websites with only positive content, but I had to sneak this link in here: 11 People Who Will Earn Less than "The Situation". [BuzzFeed, via TheBigLead]

Earlier this week, pitching phenom Steven Strasburg went down for the year (and maybe next) with a tendon tear in his pitching arm. I found this article from Deadspin unintentionally hilarious: Former Cubs pitcher Mark Prior wants to know why everyone is asking him about Strasburg's injury... [Deadspin]

Info-graphic of the week: The 300,000 biggest websites, organized by their logo. [NMNAP via Gizmodo]

Awww! Look at the dog- he's dancing! He thinks he's people! [YouTube, via TheBigLead]

Interesting read from Technology Review about 4chan, a crazy dredges-of-the-web website where everything posted is just a free-for-all. Not a suggested site for people not interested in that sort of thing, but an interesting read nonetheless. [Technology Review via LongReads Twitter]

This week in amazingly dumb talents: Super Mario Beat-box! [YouTube]

I'm not the biggest Yankees fan in the world, but Joe Pasnanski of Sports Illustrated has a nice breakdown of Yankee icon Derek Jeter's contract status with the team. He's in the final year of a $189M contract, but may be either let go, or forced to re-sign for significantly less. [SI.com via Sepinwall Twitter]

Why do businesses think they can take down Facebook? It's just now gaining steam. Anyway, a new, "open" social network called Diaspora is on its way this month... [Wired]

This week the Big Ten announced it's divisional breakdown starting next year, when Nebraska joins the conference. Here's everything you could possibly want to know about Nebraska's move to the Big Ten. (And yes, The Big Lead was killing it this week.) [Omaha, via TheBigLead]

Since we love lists: The 30 Best Nicknames in the Major Leagues. [Chicago Now]

Okay, I'm tempted....

I don't want to, but I may have to...

OKAY FINE

P.S.- I think it's important to note that we're NOT doing this.
