Local Artist Inspires Students

Artist-Trading-Cards-1Chesterton Middle School art club students had an art card trade with local artist Holly Jackson. Artist trading cards are the same size as a traditional baseball card; they are miniature works of art. Art trading cards are produced in various media, such as pencils, pens, markers, watercolor, acrylic paints, collage, even found objects. The cards are usually traded or exchanged among a group of artists.

Each of the students created 14 miniature artworks and participated in a trade at Chesterton Middle School this past week with Jackson and teachers Jason Gast and Brooke Sutter. Jackson spoke to the students about her cards and the inspiration she found in participating in the activity. She brought in additional pieces of her artwork that were inspired by the card trading activity. She shared her work, stories, and answered questions the students had about being an artist and the art process.
