Local Business Owner Paves the Way for Family Agency

Family-House-Parking-Lot-1Local paving contractor, Jack Boyd, owner and founder of Boyd Asphalt, believes in giving back to the community. Recently, a crew from Boyd Asphalt carried out his belief by installing a new parking lot for Family House, Inc.

Located in the heart of Valparaiso, Family House, a not-for-profit service agency, provides Northwest Indiana families with a safe, home-like environment where children can spend supervised time with their non-custodial parents. The organization also provides supervised transfers when parents may share custody or visitation of children.

In addition to providing a totally new parking lot behind the building, Boyd resealed the side parking lot and installed angled striping which has improved traffic flow on the adjacent street.

The angled parking will aid in improved visibility for drivers backing into the flow of traffic,” said Family House Board President Laura Ryan. “Boyd did a great job, and the parking lot looks 100 percent better,” Ryan added.

Family-House-Parking-Lot-2Over the years, Family House has benefitted from the generous contributions of area businesses and individuals like Boyd.

I’m thankful to be able to give back to those who need a helping hand,” says Boyd.

Each year, Family House serves more than 600 families, managing some 2,000 supervised visits and 1,000 visitation transfers. Families are directed to Family House through the courts or the Department of Child Services. Family house was established in 1981 by a group of community leaders who recognized a need to strengthen families.
