Local Girl, Valparaiso Business Host Fundraisers to Benefit Lakeshore PAWS

Artwork-by-Rosa-CohnDuring the month of January, Figure Eight Brewing and Blackbird Café, both located in downtown Valparaiso, will play host to fundraisers benefiting Lakeshore PAWS.

Now through January 18, original artwork created by seven-year-old, Valparaiso-resident Rosa Cohn and her fellow classmates at TJ Elementary School will be on display at Blackbird Café, 114 E Lincolnway, Valparaiso.

Blackbird Café owner, Mary Koselke, was approached by Cohn who asked if the café’s next art show could feature children’s artwork of animals. “She wanted to sell the pictures and have all of the money go to Lakeshore PAWS,” said Koselke. “Of course, I agreed that I thought it was an awesome idea.

Artwork can be viewed at the café from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Each picture costs $10, and all proceeds benefit Lakeshore PAWS. The art show will conclude with a party for the young artists and their families on January 18 at 6 p.m. For more information about the Blackbird Café and the art show, call (219) 548-2811.
