Lubeznik Center for the Arts Hosts ArtBash Gala Event

rot22Saturday, July 12, 2014, 6:00 p.m. (CDT) Lubeznik Center for the Arts will hold its annual fundraiser at its home for the first time, located at 101 W. 2nd St. Michigan City, IN 46360. The event will feature culinary delights, inspired libations, delectable desserts, artists creating their work, LA-based DJ HMU, and spectacular interactive performances. Material Possessions, fiber artist, Karen Gubitz, will be on-site creating artwork as well as artist Laura Marie Panozzo.

Browse the six galleries at LCA during the event and meet the artists. Artwork on exhibit in the Hyndman Gallery, features Material Possessions, a collection of contemporary fiber art. In the Brinka Cross and Northview Galleries, view Ignorance With Wings, new works by Michael Bill Smith. The NIPSCO Art Education Studios, features a showcase of artwork by youth in partnership with the LOK Wishing Tree Foundation.

Sample the food specialties from several of the regions finest restaurants including: Bartlett's Gourmet Grill & Tavern, Great Lakes Catering & Special Events, Heston Supper Club, Little Chocolates, Portofino Grill, The Pickle & the Turnip, Decoys Bar & Grill, Rodini Restaurant & Lounge, Galveston Steakhouse, Spire Farm-To-Fork Cuisine, and Stop 50 Wood Fired Pizza.

At 7:30 p.m. LCA will present the Arts Leadership Award to Don Babcock, the Director of Economic Development, Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO). He will be honored for his contribution to the economic viability of Northwest Indiana and his ongoing commitment to the arts. Babcock is a tireless volunteer and substantive participant at LCA events. He is a great spokesman for the Center, always ready to trumpet our accomplishments and encourage others to get involved. Honorees are selected for their exceptional commitment and dedication to the arts.

Participation in ArtBash strengthens LCA's continued arts leadership in the region through exhibitions, education and community initiatives. Financial support enables LCA to mount nine outstanding contemporary art exhibitions annually, deliver art, music and dance for 800+ children and adults weekly, and provide leadership to local economic development initiatives.
