In this class, Hertzlieb will use projected visuals, artworks from the collection of the Brauer Museum of Art and from LCA to describe the evolution of artistic expression over time. He will address the particular challenges modern art raises in its abstract and conceptual emphases. By the end of class, students will be able to view modern and contemporary works with greater confidence as they learn about the specific aims and historical contexts of the artists.
