Major League Baseball Chaplain Speaks to VCA Students

Mickey Weston, a chaplain for the White Sox and recently a chaplain to National and American League Teams during their spring training in Arizona, delivered the message at both campuses in chapel on Wednesday, April 14th.

He encouraged the students of VCA to not be like Jonah and run from God, but to allow God to build His character into their lives.  He shared that the students need to accept His Lord "ship" by letting Jesus be the Lord of their lives and stay in His ship and not try to run away from God.  When we run, we run to sin and that sin does not bless our lives, but brings heartache and a shipwreck.  We need to thank the Lord in the high and low of life and let God help us develop character to bring us to the ultimate purpose in life God has designed us to be.  Our sin does affect people around us as it affected the people in Jonah's boat and the people of Nineveh when Jonah did not immediately respond to God's request for Jonah, God's prophet, to go there.

Mr. Weston ended with his challenge for all students to be F.A.T.  meaning, Faithful, Available, and Teachable!  Mr. Weston and his wife have two daughters and their son, Drew, attends VCA part time.  Mickey Weston played major league baseball for 15 years and currently travels the world in baseball related mission work.  Get in God's boat and see where He takes you!
