Martin Binder Jeweler and Valpo Parks celebrate ongoing partnership at Donation Day

Martin Binder Jeweler, an active supporter of the community since it opened its doors nearly 80 years ago, honored their family tradition once again with a generous donation to Valpo Parks.

"Giving back to the community pays tribute to our company's long-standing traditions,” said John Scott, Marketing Manager for Martin Binder Jeweler. “This was always something that was important to our founders and we want to honor them by continuing to help others moving forward."

The vision for the company’s Donation Day program originated from a desire to amplify the impact of their community support. Each year, Martin Binder Jeweler selects five diverse community organizations who share common goals. For 2019 these organizations include Valpo Parks, Lakeshore Paws, Housing Opportunities, the Valparaiso Family YMCA, and the Bret Laczynski Brain Cancer Research Fund.

"We're very thankful for the partnership with Martin Binder and their support of the community," said Kevin Nuppnau, Business Operations Director for Valpo Parks. "We're honored to be selected as one of their organizations this year."

One of the big projects that Valpo Parks is working on this summer, a new dog park near Valparaiso High School named “Valpawraiso,” will greatly benefit from Martin Binder Jeweler’s support.

"We're thankful to have them in our community," said Lisa Kusbel, Development Director for Valpo Parks.

Today’s donation builds on a relationship formed over the last several years. Together, Martin Binder Jeweler and Valpo Parks have provided residents numerous opportunities to come together and enjoy each other’s company.

"For the parks department, it's about connecting with community members and aligning with organizations that want to help improve the community,” Nuppnau said. “This relationship with Martin Binder has been just that over the last couple of years, and so we look forward to continuing that relationship with them."

Past contributions supported a wide variety of Valpo Parks events and projects like the Popcorn Panic 5k, the Valpo Night Ride, and adult and youth sports leagues.

"I feel honored to be here,” Kusbel said. “I'm so thankful for Martin Binder for all that they do."

For many years, Martin Binder Jeweler operated out of a historical building on the corner of Lincolnway and Franklin Street, in the heart of Valparaiso. As their collection and reputation for superior products and services expanded, they outgrew their original space and moved to their location on Highway 30 - recently celebrating their five year anniversary in this new facility.

The new location, where Tuesday’s event was held, sits just west of the intersection of Highway 30 and State Road 2, and contains over 9,000 square feet of jewelry and timepieces. The spacious showroom displays a combination of signature pieces from brand name designers as well as a wide array of items from the five “by Martin Binder” collections.

For those looking to for fantastic deals on top-quality items, Martin Binder Jeweler’s annual End of Summer Sale kicks off on Monday, July 29th through Saturday, August 3rd. With savings up to 75% off they are sure to have some amazing treasures in the sale cases.
